Our Calabasas mat studio just got warmer. We’ve installed ceramic infrared heat panels above the mat room, and every mat and yoga class on the schedule now runs in the heat.
What changed
- Every mat and yoga class is infrared-heated, at 90–95°F. Most classes sit around 90–95°F. Each class page lists its range.
- Reformer and Half & Half classes stay at room temperature. If you’d rather work without the heat, those formats haven’t changed.
Why infrared
Ceramic infrared warms your body directly, rather than the air around you. That helps muscles loosen faster, encourages a deeper sweat and supports recovery. It’s the same precise Pilates work, with a sauna-like warmth that opens the body up.
Your first heated class
- Drink extra water the day before and the morning of, and eat lightly 1–2 hours before class.
- Bring socks (grip socks are optional on the mat), a water bottle and a sweat towel.
- Go at your own pace. Modify or rest whenever you need to; there’s no requirement to keep up.
- Tell the front desk it’s your first heated class so your instructor can check in with you.
If you’re pregnant, or have a heart, blood-pressure or other medical condition that heat could affect, please check with your physician before a heated class. Heated classes aren’t recommended during pregnancy; reformer classes are room temperature and a good alternative.
